My etchings generally reflect my interest in the way things change: the body (particularly malevolent growth) and the coastline (usually at Spurn Head, in Humberside). fro Shell I is a series of 25 etchings based on my daughter's radiotherapy mask, reflecting the tension and tightness we both felt as she was going through her five weeks of treatment for a benign brain tumour. The Spurn etchings show the effect of nature on the spit of land at the mouth of the Humber which, over centuries, has moved from east to west and become smaller. Now the tide washes over the centre of the spit, and the community which once thrived there has disappeared.
